Manufacturing Defects- are those that occur during the manufacturing process. A good example here would be a product containing a foreign object (ex. a container of some soft drink with glass or metal chards inside);

Design Defects-are those that result from a poorly designed and/or tested product. A good example here would be the so-called exploding Ford Pinto. The poor design of the car’s fuel tank and rear end made the car susceptible to erupting into a ball of fire from even a minor collision;

Marketing Defects (Failure to Adequately Warn)-this involves a situation in which the product comes with deficient or lack of information and/or inadequate warnings as to the proper use of the product. A good example here can involve a given medication the fails to warn against the use of any other product that might cause an adverse health effect or reaction, even if the medication in question is taken as prescribed.
